Have you ever found yourself wondering how celebrities have such gorgeous skin and wish you could look more like them? Would you be surprised to know that celebrities suffer from skin problems such as acne just like the rest of us do? While they have access to make up artists and professionals to make them look flawless, underneath it all, celebrities are struggling with skin issues too.
Kendall Jenner is just one example of a celebrity who has battled acne and who continues to follow strict regimens to keep her skin healthy. Jenner says she “got acne from being a teenager and simply growing up, which happens to so many people.” Just like ordinary teens, Kendall felt self conscious and worried that she couldn’t interact with her peers at school because of how she looked. Of course, just because acne is common doesn’t mean it doesn’t adversely affect the self-esteem of a young teenager—or even an adult for that matter.
Singer Katy Perry also admits to worrying about her skin: “I have acne scars,” she recently confessed. “I’m self conscious about that, so sometimes I wear too much makeup to cover them up.”
There are many products to help with acne, some more popular than others. Of course, a celebrity endorsement of a product or procedure doesn’t mean it is right for everyone. For example, some Proactiv reviews reveal that even popular products aren’t always the most suitable. Make sure you focus on your own skin type and situation so you can develop a solution that works for you. You may even want to speak to your doctor or to a dermatologist if traditional store-bought methods don’t work. Keep in mind that you have to give a new regimen time to work; acne doesn’t clear up in a day.
Once you find a solution that is right for your skin, be sure to keep up with it so that your results stay consistent. As Kendall Jenner says, “What I want everyone to understand is that it’s been a process. It wasn’t anything that happened overnight.”
Having a daily routine is helpful, too. Try and go through the same cleansing and skin care process each morning and each evening. Don’t become lax and start going to bed with makeup on your face, which prevents your skin from being able to breathe overnight. Scarlett Johansson used to go to bed with makeup on and now says, “I have the same breakouts as everybody else. And I clean my makeup brushes once a week.”
As you struggle with your acne and work on treating it, remind yourself that beauty is much more than skin deep. Love yourself, take good care of yourself; eat nutritiously, drink water to stay hydrated; and keep up with an exercise program. Get good sleep and try to avoid stress. Even with her fame, Kendall Jenner states that she still has to remind herself not to care if her skin isn’t perfect. She says, “I realized that it’s a part of life for some people and it doesn’t define who you are.”
