Chichester is a small but perfectly formed city in the south of England. Although it’s not as well known as the sprawling metropolis of London or the picturesque town of Bath, Chichester shouldn’t be overlooked as a destination for a UK mini-break. Here are just a few reasons why this West Sussex city is well worth a visit.

No visit to Chichester would be complete without taking a tour of Arundel Castle, which is one of the largest in England. It’s almost 1,000 years old and is extrlolemely well-preserved. The impressive gardens make for a lovely walk, particularly during the spring.
Chichester Cathedral is another historic must-visit attraction. It’s over 900 years old and home to rare pieces of art dating from the present day all the way back to medieval times.

Those interested in the military history should pay a visit to Tangmere Military and Aviation Museum, while fans of the Roman era should explore the Novium, a museum for bathhouse remains. The Pallant House Gallery, eanwhile, contains an impressive and varied collection of paintings and sculptures by many notable artists.
Cycle routes
Chichester is a fantastic place to explore by bicycle. The city is cyclist-friendly and boasts scenic views around every corner. Cycling around the harbor is especially good fun on a sunny day.

The weekly Wednesday market is popular amongst local citizens and is home to over 50 stalls. The Draper’s Yard market, meanwhile, is open 10am-4pm every day except Sunday and sells artisan goods, including coffee, textiles and jewelry.
